D23x30DR S3 HDD

For drilling in rock, you need a machine that can take on the tough jobs in tough ground conditions.

Description

The D23x30DR S3 Navigator® horizontal directional drill helps lead the way in rock drilling and continues the legacy of the S3 badge – speed, simplicity and sound. Adding to the Vermeer lineup of rock drills, the D23x30DR S3 offers dual rod technology in a compact yet powerful machine that enables operators to confidently and efficiently maneuver through rock in congested cities, busy neighborhoods or tight jobsites.

Building on the dependability of the D23x30 S3, this rock drill offers a short and narrow footprint and quiet power for operator comfort while minimizing jobsite disturbance. Common controls can help operators transition smoothly into rock drilling from a single rod machine, while new tooling options can offer precise steering and maximized wear life to help provide optimized jobsite productivity. The D23x30DR S3 rock drill delivers impressive power that can help you bore through challenging ground conditions and keep you rocking on a demanding jobsite.

Feature Benefit
Compact control
A width of 55.5” (141 cm) makes the D23x30DR S3 drill 24.5” (62.2 cm) narrower than its closest competitor. A small footprint allows for efficient maneuvering of the drill into compact urban areas or busy neighborhoods and can help with more convenient transportation of the machine on a trailer with other equipment.
Powerful performance
A 100 hp (75 kW) Deutz TCD3.6L4 engine powers the D23x30DR S3. This engine provides power to help drive the D23x30DR S3 to its peak performance.
Thrust/pullback
A thrust/pullback of 24,000 lb (106.8 kN) combines with the outer rod rotational torque of 3000 ft-lb (4067.5 Nm). This dual rod drill offers impressive power and performance in a compact design, enabling operators to confidently bore through hard rock and other challenging ground conditions.
Worth its weight
The D23x30DR S3 weighs in at 16,500 lb (7484 kg), making it 28.9% lighter than its closest competitor and the lightest rock drill in its class. Help keep the jobsite intact by decreasing potential disturbance to sidewalks and landscapes.
Vermeer Fleet-ready
This drill offers CAN-based controls, which allow for an optional integration of Vermeer Fleet productivity features, including fault recognition and on-display machine monitoring, which includes engine operating and idle hours, geofencing, fuel usage and location. By adding Vermeer Fleet telematics to this drill, you can stay in-sync with, and get optimal productivity out of, your machine. Fleet telematics can help fleet managers to schedule maintenance, track machine location and monitor machine health.
Serviceability
Convenient access to the rear hood allows for service of the mud pump, and the open top vise helps with changing out the die and couplers. Help maintain machine performance and productivity with convenient access to necessary service points.
Familiar features
The D23x30DR S3 continues to build on the dependable legacy of the S3 badge and common CAN controls, combined with the latest advancements in dual rod technology. Common controls can offer a more familiar operator experience to help crews transition to rock drilling from a single rod machine and get in and out of tough ground with precision and power.
Dual rod durability
The D23x30DR S3 Firestick® drill rod system includes a threaded outer rod and hex coupled inner rod. A strong hex coupler design helps maximize wear life and time in operation between changeouts. This system also offers class-leading steerability at 7% per rod.
Drill head
The D23x30DR S3 is equipped with the greaseable RH10 drill head. A 5.5” (14 cm) tri-cone or PDC bit is recommended. The RH10 is compatible with 15” DCI sondes. A 2-degree bend located in the forward section of the RH10 offers responsive steer on command.
Quick pullback grapple
The RH10 drill head, when equipped with a tri-cone bit, is compatible with the PG5 quick pullback grapple. The toolless PG5 quick pullback grapple helps reduce the need to remove the drill head for installing small diameter product pipe(s).
Rock quietly
The D23x3DR S3 has an operator ear noise level of 83 dB(A). This rock drill follows the S3 sound badge, offering a noise level that can help with operator comfort and crew communication, as well as help create a quiet working environment to reduce disturbance in neighborhoods and other populated urban areas.
The fast track
The D23x30DR S3 can track up to 3.4 mph (5.5 km/h). Maneuver around your jobsite quickly to prepare for the next shot and complete your installation.
Need for speed
The D23x30DR S3 has a carriage speed of 175 ft/min (53.3 m/min) and rotational speed of 200 rpm. The carriage and rotational speed can help with quick rod exchange and can enable crews to stay efficient and install more linear feet per day. Match your rotation speed to tooling for optimal performance and life.
