Description
Dual Cat engines deliver 1200 hp (895 kW) to the machine. The cab, equipped with the TEC® Plus computer-aided control system, allows the T1655III Terrain Leveler® SEM to communicate with the various control modules located throughout the machine. While the machine is performing, the air ride suspension system on the cab provides a smooth, quiet ride for the operator in the typically harsh environment of a mining operation. It also features a filtered air system, dual self-contained cooling and heating systems, sound-attenuating foam as well as dual air ride suspension seats for optimum operator and trainer comfort.
Feature | Benefit |
Air Ride Cab | |
The cab offers an airbag and shock suspension system. | This system provides a smooth, more comfortable and quiet ride for the operator even in the hardest of conditions. |
Cab Safety Glass | |
The cab features tinted laminated safety glass. | This glazing offers improved scratch resistance and is tinted to minimize ultraviolet light transmission while maximizing visible light transmission. This helps keep the cab cooler while still allowing excellent visibility. |
Direct Drive Terrain Leveler Attachment
The attachment drive motors are attached directly to the cutter drum. | This not only improves efficiency, but reduces wear costs associated with chain, sprocket and belt transmissions. |
Dual Engine | |
The T1655 is powered by two CAT C18 ACERT Tier 3-certified engines. | The dual engine configuration provides power to a common pump drive so that both engines each provide power to all machine functions allowing each engine to be fully utilized during machine operation. If one engine is not operational, the machine is still able to operate at single-engine power level. This enables the machine to drive to a maintenance area for necessary service. |
Dual Engine, 1200 hp (895 kW)
This machine features dual 600 hp (447 kW) CAT C-18 ACERT Tier 3 certified engines delivering 1200 hp (895 kW). | This machine meets Tier 3 emission standards and meets all Caterpillar application requirements, and the dual engine configuration provides power to a common pump drive so that both engines each provide power to all machine functions, allowing each engine to be fully utilized during machine operation. If one engine is not operational, the machine is still able to operate at single-engine power level. This enables the machine to be driven to a maintenance area for necessary service. |
Elevating ROPM Cab | |
This machine features an elevating Rollover Protective Module (ROPM) cab. The cab is equipped with pressurized/filtered air and is climate controlled for operator comfort. An AM/FM stereo with weather band radio is also available. | The elevating ROPM cab offers increased operator visibility of the trench and the machine. The cab folds for easier transportation. The pressurized/filtered air, heat/air conditioning, and optional radio can offer greater comfort for the operator in all types of conditions. |
Ergonomic Cab Enclosure
The cab comes equipped with a swivel seat, tinted Lexan windows, filtered and pressurized incoming air, heater, air conditioner, and sound attenuating foam. | These cab features contribute to greater operator comfort. |
Falling Object Protection System (FOPS)
The cab is a Level 2 FOPS-rated cab. | A FOPS cab is designed to protect the operator and others within the cab from damage caused by falling objects. The cab meets the necessary criteria of a Level 2 rating set forth by ISO Standard 3449. |
GPS/Laser Ready | |
The TEC Plus control system is designed for easy hook up of either a GPS or laser system. | This makes for easy installation of either a GPS or laser system. |
Large Fuel Tank | |
This machine is equipped with an 800 gal (3028.3 L) fuel tank. | With an 800 gal (3028.3 L) fuel tank, this machine has a 13.2 hour operating range at maximum horsepower and maximum fuel consumption rate. |
Load Control | |
The load control feature (adjustable by the operator in the cab) is used to adjust the load on the engine to account for varying work conditions by determining how far the engine rpm can drop before the ground drive speed is reduced. | The load control varies the ground speed to maximize production in changing ground conditions. |
Low Machine Center of Gravity
The center of gravity of the machine is near the lateral and fore/aft midlines of the machine and is fairly low in the machine. | The machine is well balanced and stable in all directions. |
Optional Remote Mounted Cameras
This machine allows for up to four remote mounted cameras with video displays in the cab. | The cameras provide a different view perspective that may enhance productivity by providing increased visibility for faster alignment with the previous cut or to a starting or stopping point during cutting. |
Patented Tilt Attachment
The cutter drum tilts 5 degrees either direction. | This allows for cutting to grade and produces a smooth floor. |
Quick Fill Ready Tanks | |
The fluid and grease reservoirs are ported for easy installation of quick fill systems. | Ports are installed at the factory for easy installation of a customer’s quick fill system in the fuel, hydraulic oil, pump drive oil, clutch oil, engine oil, radiator coolant and grease system reservoirs. |
Remote Attachment Control (RAC)
The standard RAC allows the operator to remotely start and stop the engine, raise/lower the boom, and slowly rotate the chain to observe the cutters – during maintenance or service – while standing away from the digging chain. | This allows the operator easier digger chain and tooth maintenance. |
TEC® Plus | |
The TEC Plus electronic control system uses the proven TEC 2000 system as a foundation, but with 21st century updates. Utilizing CAN bus technology, this machine communicates with the control modules strategically located throughout the machine. | This system helps improve reliability by greatly reducing the amount of wire. The TEC Plus display allows the operator to easily monitor machine functions. The TEC Plus control system also features advanced troubleshooting capabilities over the TEC 2000. |
Terrain Leveler Attachment Top Down Cutting
Top down cutting allows the cutter teeth to achieve greater rock penetration. When traveling forward, the teeth on top of the drum are positioned over the top of the rock surface and when contact is made, the teeth instantly break or fracture the rock. | Top down cutting decreases the horsepower requirement to the ground drive. The cutting action also assists the machine in the direction of travel and doesn’t crush the material since the tracks do not travel over the cut material. |
Terrain Leveler Cutter Drum Location
The cutter drum is located on the rear of the machine, which allows the drum to cut the material while the tracks are always on uncut ground. | This allows for better tractive effort as the tracks do not have to operate in cuttings and a more stable machine with significant machine weight always on the tracks. |
Vantage Track | |
3-year/3000-hour Extended Care Service Program | An optional 3-year/3000-hour Vantage Track Extended Care Service Program for the components of the closed-loop hydrostatic systems displays the confidence Vermeer has in trenchers and Terrain Leveler SEMs providing the customer security against unexpected expenses. |
Vantage Track II | |
5-year/5000-hour Extended Care Service Program | An optional 5-year/5000-hour Vantage Track Extended Care Service Program for the components of the closed-loop hydrostatic systems displays the confidence Vermeer has in its trenchers and Terrain Leveler SEMs providing the customer security against unexpected expenses. |
Wet Disc Clutches | |
This machine incorporates a self-adjusting wet clutch on each engine. | The PT Tech wet clutch is self-adjusting and is designed to reduce clutch maintenance. |
